(free VSTi Guitar by Revitar)
When VSTi Plugin receive midi data, its audio engines will process and extract audio signal. This sound can be audio effects or audio simulation of some musical instrument such as guitar, piano, or drum,… depends on which VSTi you use.
When do you use VSTi?
When should you use VSTi?
- Your musical instrument is rare or rare people can play it well.
- You don’t have enough conditions to record real musical instruments with high quality audio.
- Produce sound effects.
- Using for Demo.
Assuming, you’re mixing artist, you want to quickly present your ideas about how a song perform in order for your customer to easily imagine, you can make a demo on computer with artificial musical instruments for them to listen.
If they agree, you hire real musicians to perform for your complete recording and mastering. This way is very popular and is the main function of VSTi in music production of studios and artists.
Of course, there are many other functions of VSTi but those above are the main and the most popular functions in studios from small to big ones.
Note: The accurate simulation of musical instrument depends on the feature of that instrument. My experience tell that striking musical instruments such as piano, drum is easier to simulate and produce more real sound than string musical instruments like guitar, violin and breath musical instruments like flute, trumpet, et cetera
VSTi is very convenient and is being one of indispensable part of artist or mastering artist, composers, … It brings us convenience, savings for demo as well as professional projects.
Although VSTi has defect such as: sound is like real but it’s hardly can perform like the real people. But no one can deny it helps artists or music producing lovers a lot with its benefits like convenience, flexibility.
