What is the Cheap Acoustic Guitar for beginners?
First, you need to know “what is the cheap acoustic guitar?” Most of the CHEAP acoustic guitars are made from laminated woods or plastics. The plastic guitars are just toys whereas the laminated guitars have their own pros and cons.
The benefits of the laminated acoustic guitar are CHEAP and they are hardly affected by temperature or humidity. That means it is best suited to come with you in a campfire, camping, traveling or anywhere you go without worries.
However, the sound quality can’t be compared to solid wood acoustic guitar, which has tone improved with age just like fine wine.
So, what about playability? Many people said that cheap guitar is high action (the distance from the strings to the fretboards) that causes uncomfortable when pressing strings or hold chords. It maybe, but…
… in this review, however, I recommend the acoustic guitars for beginners, which are not only easy to play but also good looking and offer good sounds.
Note: The high action, it is just a small technical problem. You can fix it easily by yourself or bring it to local store or luthiers. I will have a guide to fix this problem soon. So you needn’t worry about the action or playability.
If you are beginners and your budget is tight, I highly recommend you buy an inexpensive acoustic guitar for learning to play. It’s fine! Do not hesitate; a cheap guitar doesn’t ALWAYS mean a junk!
At below, I have listed and recommended some of the BEST inexpensive acoustic guitars which meet my criteria above for your consideration.
These guitars come from big famous brands, so you do not worry about the quality.
1. Jasmine S35 & S34C
Jasmine is a cheap guitar brand of Takamine guitar. Jasmine focuses on the inexpensive but still keep good quality guitars. If you have a tight budget or/and want a travel guitar to come with, the Jasmine S35 and S34C are worth considering.
The difference between them are S34C has cut-away which are easy to access higher frets.
As for the sound quality, it can’t be compared to expensive acoustic guitars but it is still better when compared to other guitars at the same price range.
In short, nice finish and good sounds are what you get when you choose Jasmine S35 or S34C
2. Epiphone DR-100
Nice finish, low action, a bright and clear tone that have made Epiphone DR-100 a good choice for beginners as well as good-players for many years.
3. Fender FA-100
Fender FA-100 is another good choice for beginners and experienced-players who are searching for a backup/travel acoustic guitar or anything like that.
My first impression about Fender FA-100 is beautiful outlook, low action but does not buzz and very easy to play chords.
As for the sounds, it is fine. Of course, you can’t expect it sounds like the guitars at $500. For the price range is around $100, Fender FA-100 is worth buying.
4. Yamaha JR1 ¾ scale
I bought JR1 ¾ scale for my 10-year old girl. The sound and finish are pretty good. I’m very pleased with it.
Buying a cheap guitar when you are beginners eliminates the risk of you wasting money if you decide not to keep playing.
These good-cheap-guitars are fully functional, and they are not only great for practicing but also performing.
If you are searching an inexpensive acoustic guitar, Jasmine by Takamine, Epiphone, Fender and Yamaha are BEST brands which you should consider first. I’m sure you will never be wrong with these brands. Trust me!
I want to say “a cheap acoustic guitar doesn’t ALWAYS mean a junk!” again. Hope you have had the GOOD choices! Thanks for stopping by.
